The key feature of this example is its condition. The watch remains unworn with its original factory stickers still attached, as shown in the photographs. Finding a reference 16570 from this period preserved in New Old Stock condition with stickers and its original box and papers is uncommon.
The reference 16570 features a 40mm stainless steel Oyster case, fixed 24-hour graduated bezel and black dial with luminous hour markers. The additional 24-hour hand works in conjunction with the bezel to display a second time zone or distinguish between day and night. The date is positioned at 3 o'clock beneath the Cyclops magnification.
Inside is the automatic Rolex calibre 3185, used in the reference 16570 during this period, with an approximate 48-hour power reserve. The watch is fitted to its stainless steel Oyster bracelet. The Explorer II 16570 remained in production until 2011, when it was replaced by the larger reference 216570. Its 40mm case and five-digit reference place this example within the earlier generation of the Explorer II.
